Wherever possible food will be sourced fresh from local farm markets. For ten years we have forged relationships with the local farmers who have been farming the land generation after generation and who still farm by a great deal by hand. We support the local farmers and their traditional lifestyle by sourcing most of our food from them. The mountainous interior of the island is a quilt of dense pine forest, olive and almond groves. Farmers still use ancient terracing to cultivate their crops and irrigation techniques introduced by the Arabs over a thousand years ago. The Ibecenco people living in these rural areas are an extremely dignified people - their lives edging gently forwards in a time honoured fashion with so many treasured techniques to share. You will benefit from eating this island food and a delicious healthy eating plan for the week will force you away from the foods that weigh you down with too much starch fat and additives. Special dietary requirementsOver the last few years we have tried our very best to accommodate almost every kind of special diet. However, we have found that demands for individual diets continue to increase at a very fast rate, to the point where it is no longer manageable. Therefore we reluctantly stopped offering individual solutions to dietary problems, however the GOOD news is that we have adapted our menu so that our meals can now all be eaten without the need to consume gluten or dairy products, which we have found to be the most common food intolerances. In general, there is likely to be one wheat and dairy dish (usually pasta and usually on the Thursday evening), which we are keeping by popular demand. There may also be others from time to time. ] Guests with gluten or dairy intolerance will be asked to let the office know AT THE TIME OF BOOKING if they would like dairy and gluten free alternatives. Please note that the alternative meal may be of a simple nature such as rice and dahl. If you book this, it is essential that you stick with your choice, for the sake of other guests who have booked the standard meal. There will also be some meals in which dairy or gluten based products are served as an optional extra, such as a yogurt or cream cheese dip, or a bowl of cheese as a topping. In these cases, no alternative will be offered, as the meal will still be complete and balanced without them. So for those who wish it is now possible to have all meals at Ibiza Yoga COMPLETELY WHEAT AND DAIRY FREE!! For breakfasts we provide teas, coffee, juices, yogurt (soya yoghurt is hard to get hold off on Ibiza so guests are welcome to bring their own), muesli, cornflakes, rice and/or corn cakes and a choice of cow’s milk (not fresh/UHT) and soya milk. If you do not feel that your needs will me met by these products, please feel free to bring your own additional breakfast items. If you do plan to do this, it is essential that you also bring an AIRTIGHT TUB and some LABELS to keep these items in. This will enable them to be stored in the fridge or kitchen safely and hygienically. We apologise for any inconvenience. |
