Ideas of things to do while at the Ibiza Yoga Retreat
- Sunday evenings on Benirras Beach - Every Sunday between May and October, the drumming corp 'Benedrums' jams down on the beach starting just before sunset and going on until close to midnight. In August craft stands and stalls sell clothes and jewelry.
- On Wednesday night we organise a night out at Bambuddha Grove - 00 34-971 197510 a pretty ' MediterAsian 'restaurant surrounded by terraced fields five miles north of the capital , Ibiza town and a 15 minute drive from both retreats. The decor is a kitsch cocktail of Asian styles, the food is good but a little pricey, there is an outdoor bar strewn with silk cushions and surrounded by bamboo , a sushi bar a clothes shop and a jewelry shop, all open until 4pm.
- Another 'night out' suggestion is Namaste - a chillout event at Las Dalias. Approximately 20 minutes away by cab. Featuring: live music, dancers , performances, oriental bazar, chill-out areas and chai shop. During day time there is a famous market at Las Dallas which is located near San Carlos on the east side of the island.
- "Have a massage given by one of our many therapists to help stretch and strengthen muscles or just to add to a relaxing afternoon. Massage given at any of the three Villas, in your room or on one of the roof top yoga studios at Palmas or Roca . Treatments range from half to one and a half hours and are charged pro-rata around €60 per hour. - Manicure, Pedicure, etc. in San Miguel, the Pueblo Blanca Peluqueria, 971 334 928 is the number for the hairstylist and 971 334 071 for the manicurist .This beauty salon is open every day except Sundays for appointmnents. Prices are around half of that of most London salons yet the service is very good.
- The Cave at Puerto San Miguel - the 'Cuevas de Can Marca' are along the road half a mile behind Villa Roca. A rough unmade road leads to the entrance. There is a car park and bar. Multi lingual tours start every hour. Inside the cave it has good lighting and sound effects which enhance this fascinating world of pillars, pools, stalagmites and stalactites. To visit the cave by foot from Villa Roca , see the cave and return will take half a day. If you like cool caves it is well worth a visit on a hot sunny day.
- Walks in the Pine Forest behind Villa Roca - The energetic will enjoy a walk in the pinewoods (be careful not to get lost amongst the many pathways that all look alike) but the ground is dry, hard, stoney and sometimes slippery, so sturdy footwear is required. The one hour walk to Moon Beach is a favourite. Since August 2010 the forest has now burnt down so what was a lovely green walk is now rather burnt however the views are better as the trees are no longer blocking them -infact you see views that were never available before !! Thats the up side.
- Walks to Puerto San Miguel - A scenic road extends between Benirras Beach and Port San Miguel and takes approximately 45 minutes to walk, one way. Stunning views of the ocean, the Benirras rock and of Puerto San Miguel. It is accessible from a staircase originating at the far left of Benirras Beach. From the beach hut / cafe / drinking bar there is a flight of steps amongst the rocks go up these for 15 minutes before you reach a path, cross a wall onto a driveway and follow the driveway up to the main dirt road.
The other access to this walk is to take the road that goes up behind Villa Roca - come out of the Villas drive way and turn right. This road leads to the point you reach on the walk mentioned, the Caves and Port San Miguel. Views are stunning and walking shoes are recommended as the walk is a couple of miles.
- There is a municipal tennis club 5 minutes drive away... the courts are apparently free to use.

Then we will go towards Sant Rafael De La Creu, crossing The Sierra or hills of Ses Fontanellas to arrive at Sant Antoni De Portmany, a beautiful fishing village nestling around its fortress church. We will enjoy views of Sant Antoni Bay, dotted with attractive coves of crystal-clear water, such as Cala Bassa, Cala Rotja, etc, from here we continue towards the islands of Sa Cunillera, a small islet with particularly beautiful cliffs and Bosc and S'Esparta. We will go along the west coast to admire the many coves, of special interest being Es Vedra and Es Vendranell, with its very steep slopes full of reptiles and bird life.
